As part of the continued growth and innovation of our Oil & Gas (O&G) Sector, ERM has an opportunity for an experienced leader to join our global consulting firm as a key client-facing Partner, Environmental Permitting Services for Midstream Oil & Gas and to become a shareholder in a business with Sustainability at its heart. We would consider strong candidates in ERM office locations throughout North America, including our Gulf Coast, Mid-Atlantic, Mid-West, South Atlantic, or Northeast Regions.

We are looking for an established leader who is interested in being part of this thriving global community. This individual would need to be an outstanding professional who combines strong consulting and business development skills with a solid technical foundation to foster and expand a network of excellent client relationships in the O&G industry with a focus on the midstream market, including natural gas, petroleum, natural gas liquid, and other product pipelines; liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities; natural gas storage facilities; and other O&G infrastructure. We seek an individual to help us drive the continued growth of ERM’s business through selling and delivering world-class services, recruiting and developing our next generation of leaders, and further advancing our reputation for supporting development of some of the world’s most complex projects. 

ERM’S MIDSTREAM O&G SECTOR:

ERM assists companies in planning, permitting, and managing compliance for midstream O&G projects, including capital expansion projects as well as operation and maintenance of existing facilities. Our team works closely with clients to identify their needs and achieve their business goals in a manner that minimizes the environmental and social impact of O&G activities throughout the lifecycle of their projects.

ERM supports clients at every stage of project development, construction, and operation by: 

  • Identifying environmental issues and public concerns, evaluating alternatives, and analyzing potential routes and sites;
  • Assessing permit requirements and gauging cost and schedule implications;
  • Conducting constructability reviews and environmental field surveys;
  • Using state-of-the art Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to map and analyze environmental resources and potential constraints, compare alternatives, create map products, and present geographic information in various formats to meet the needs of project and agency personnel;
  • Securing permits for new facilities, facility replacement or abandonment, and operation and maintenance activities;
  • Developing mitigation strategies;
  • Developing customized stakeholder and public outreach programs;
  • Providing environmental training programs and environmental inspection/construction compliance services;
  • Enabling compliance with existing and emerging environmental regulations;
  • Serving as a third-party contractor to support agencies in developing Environmental Impact Statements and Environmental Assessments; and
  • Providing post-construction monitoring to verify and document compliance with regulatory requirements.

ROLE PROFILE:

  • The primary focus of this position is on client account development, sales, and delivery of the full spectrum of ERM’s consulting services to deliver strategic value to our clients in the midstream O&G industry, with a primary focus on natural gas, petroleum, natural gas liquid, and other product pipelines; LNG facilities; and natural gas storage facilities. 
  • Coordinate and collaborate with ERM colleagues to understand the broad range of ERM’s services and capabilities and identify opportunities to offer multi-faceted, comprehensive solutions to meet clients’ needs.
  • Work with our established service area teams to help grow ERM’s broad portfolio of services to our clients.
  • Support and carry out ERM’s strategy of focusing on clients, understanding clients’ businesses and their needs, and delivering exceptional client value.
  • Actively develop commercial strategies to pursue and win new business opportunities that result in significant revenue growth with ERM’s target O&G clients. 
  • Provide business value based on a strong understanding of clients’ needs, selling strategically within client organizations, and raising the profile of ERM’s capabilities within key client organizations.
  • Develop new client relationships and expand existing relationships by delivering strategic consulting advice, excellent value, and quality service.
  • Seek opportunities to share with potential clients those O&G services we provide to other companies and, where applicable, showcase ERM’s experience and successes helping other clients address challenging issues.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of industry business cycles and prioritize sales efforts toward high-potential, top opportunities.
  • Manage business opportunity capture efforts utilizing technical understanding to develop proposals.
  • Contribute to leadership and management of project execution activities in support of ERM clients’ O&G projects. Lead consulting engagements in the areas of impact assessment, technical discipline-specific consulting, and/or permitting and compliance.
  • Identify and organize company participation in marketing opportunities specific to O&G offerings including trade shows, conferences, seminars, etc.
  • Build, grow, and manage a high-performance team, serving as a leader and mentor to consultants. Identify emerging talent and work with them to reach their full potential; ensure staff are nurtured, developed and given new areas of responsibility.
  • Support the growth and development of ERM’s O&G Sector and actively collaborate with colleagues across the globe. Drive innovation within the sector to stay ahead of client needs and differentiate ERM in the market. 
  • Work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment to build ERM’s global business, as well as to lead client and technical teams.
  • Meet business health & safety performance standards, financial targets, overall project budgets and schedules, client satisfaction/expectations, and internal risk management and contractual requirements.
  • Provide business value based on a strong understanding of clients’ needs, selling strategically within client organizations, and raising the profile of ERM’s capabilities within key client organizations.
  • Develop new client relationships and expand existing relationships by delivering strategic consulting advice, excellent value, and quality service.
  • Seek opportunities to share with potential clients those O&G services we provide to other companies and, where applicable, showcase ERM’s experience and successes helping other clients address challenging issues.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of industry business cycles and prioritize sales efforts toward high-potential, top opportunities.
  • Manage business opportunity capture efforts utilizing technical understanding to develop proposals.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS/MS in natural science field of study or related field.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience a consulting environment working substantially with the O&G Sector, including experience with midstream natural gas, petroleum, and other O&G product markets in the U.S.
  • In-depth understanding of the O&G industry and the companies operating in this market, including existing relationships that can be leveraged into new business.
  • Demonstrable track record in delivering multi-million dollar sales results annually, including successfully winning large and strategic projects.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the O&G regulatory environment, key regulatory agencies, and current and emerging issues.
  • Business acumen to understand business risks and challenges, and to recognize opportunities to provide enterprise-wide solutions for clients.
  • Demonstrable track record in delivering multi-million dollar sales results annually, including successfully winning large and strategic projects.
  • Recognized technical expertise and an established reputation in the local marketplace.
