Why does the job exist?

The OCD’s Business Operations Specialist III’s purpose is to assist with the OCD’s Records and Data Management Program and the OCD Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA) Program’s business functions, provide a point of contact for the public, the Oil and Gas industry and other customers. This position will interact with OCD team members and customers to produce results within the OCD’s organizational structure and the agency’s mission. The Business Operations Specialist III will help make recommendations to OCD management to standardize OCD’s business and administrative procedures for these programs. The Business Operations Specialist III will help develop systems for these programs to improve workflow and operating efficiency for the OCD. This position will interact with OCD team members, the public, and oil and gas industry customers to produce results within the OCD’s organizational structure and the agency’s mission. This position will utilize OCD procedures, operating manuals, and reporting systems to ensure that all state, federal and OCD policies, rules and regulations are complied with.

How does it get done?

Provide business and administrative support for OCD Division Offices by be the point of contact for the public, the oil and gas industry and other customers through phone calls and emails. This position will manage paper and electronic mail and documents, perform clerical functions including data entry, scanning, verifying scanned documents and releasing them into OCD databases. Also, will be the primary person to research and compile records under the New Mexico Inspections of Records Act.

  • Experience with Basic Bookkeeping and/or Financial Tracking

Minimum Qualification

Associate degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Accounting and two (2) years of directly related job experience in the areas of office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, and/or contract management. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements

Must maintain and possess a current New Mexico Driver’s License.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
