Coterra is hiring an Environmental Specialist for our Susquehanna, PA office.

The Environmental Specialist for Coterra will focus on managing the water compliance and environmental stewardship efforts within our Corporate EHS. This position reports to the Environmental Manager and is located on site in our Susquehanna, Pennsylvania office. Available for call outs on weekends and some travel to remote sites is required.

Job requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage business unit’s water quality program, which includes:
    • Management of water quality complaints and resolution
    • Oversight of business unit pre-drill sampling program
    • Role as Subject Matter Expert of Coterra’s data management programs, focusing on improving and managing data collection and reporting functionality
    • Administration of public water supply(s) and NPDES permits associated with Coterra-owned properties
    • Ensuring compliance with regulatorily driven agreements
  • Interface with community, regulatory and internal stakeholders
  • Support environmental remediation efforts and reporting
  • Advise internal stakeholders concerning EHS compliance, best practices, and expenditures
  • Assist in the education and training of company personnel
  • Perform other EHS-related duties as assigned

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proficiency in geochemistry and ability to understand and interpret analytical data.
  • Working knowledge of Pennsylvania Oil & Gas & regulations preferred.
  • Experience with site cleanups managed through the Pennsylvania Act 2 Program
  • Ability to read, interpret and communicate applicable regulations.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills are required.
  • Must be self-disciplined, detail-oriented and change-adept.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Mechanical aptitude a plus.
  • Must live within a reasonable commute to the Susquehanna office.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science or related science discipline required
  • A minimum of 10 years directly related experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements
  • A professional Geologists License is preferred

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of five (5) years work experience in an environmental compliance position required, Water programs preferred
  • Working in Oil & Gas setting is preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMAND

Work is typically performed indoors in an office environment; however, field visits to worksite(s) and/or third-party stakeholder locations will be necessary. Incumbents must be able to perform work which includes typing, sitting and standing and moderate physical activity. In the event the incumbent visits an operations worksite, personal protection equipment, including head protection, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame resistant clothing is required. Safety rules including OSHA and DOT requirements are strictly enforced. Employees must be willing to travel, and work extended hours on short notice. Periodic travel between the District office (Susquehanna) and Regional office (in Pittsburgh) will be required.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • 10%-30% – Travel may be required for mandatory meetings, training or field site visits.
