Oil & Gas Field Inspector
The Oil & Gas Division of the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) has an opening for an Oil & Gas Field Inspector to work within the Minot field office area. The Oil and Gas Division regulates the drilling and production of oil & gas in North Dakota. Our mission is to promote the responsible development and use of these resources by preventing waste, maximizing economic recovery, and protecting the rights of all stakeholders—landowners, royalty owners, producers, and the public—to ensure the greatest overall good from these vital natural resources. As a Field Inspector, you will play a key role in the Oil & Gas Division’s mission by inspecting all phases of oil operations in the field. Travel in the field is required.
To thrive in this role, you must be dependable, responsible, a strong communicator, and a self-starter who can work by themselves and within a team. You should also enjoy working outdoors year-round.
The Hiring Salary Range is $53,400 – $59,640 per year, or $4,450 – $4,970 per month.

To be considered for this role you must have a Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Geology, Mathematics, Petroleum or Geological Engineering, or other very closely related major. Also requires experience using Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Teams Word, Excel, etc.); a valid driver’s license, and the ability to perform moderate fieldwork.
Additional Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Include, A strong understanding of mathematics and oil & gas standards, mechanical knowledge, the ability to work with dedicated inspection software, GIS programs, and computer-aided database software.
