Oil & Gas Engineering Technician
The Oil & Gas Division of the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) has an opening for an Oil & Gas Engineering Technician to work within Williams, McKenzie & Divide Counties. The Oil and Gas Division regulates the drilling and production of oil and gas in North Dakota. As an Engineering Technician, you will play a key role in the Oil & Gas Division’s purpose by performing general inspections on oil, gas, and saltwater disposal wells, production equipment, and production handling and surface activities, to ensure the leasehold is maintained and that surface use conforms to the approved plan. The position will also assist Field Inspectors with inspecting, scheduling and performing mechanical integrity tests and Injection line pressure tests on injection wells and temporary abandoned wells.
To thrive in this role, you should be a dependable, responsible, self-starter who enjoys working outdoors year-round, with a strong understanding of technology; oil and gas standards, working with dedicated inspection software along with drones, and computer-aided drafting software.
This full-time position is primarily field based with some office duties. The office is in Williston, ND, but remote office work may be allowed for those living in Williams, McKenzie, or Divide counties. The position offers a strong work-life balance with a consistent Monday–Friday schedule ending by 5:00 p.m. and minimal evening or weekend work.
The Hiring Salary Range is $38,160 – $53,160 per year, or $3,180- $4,430 per month.

To be considered for this role, you must have a High School Diploma/GED; a valid Driver’s License; and knowledge of w hydraulics, motors, pumps, pressure gauges and machinery. Must also have knowledge and experience using Microsoft business applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Include, an Associate’s Degree in a related field, oil & gas experience, good verbal & written communication skills, familiarity with GIS mapping software, and the ability to work in the ND climate.
